Activotes - where to start?

By Johnny Sloan

Some teachers have Activotes to use in conjunction with the Promethean Activboard. However, we have fielded several requests to help get the votes working properly. In order to provide assistance we must understand some of the technical basics regarding your set of Activotes.

IDENTIFY your model of Activote .
Take a voter from the suitcase and look at the bottom side to locate the Model No.

A. The most current Activotes are model:
PRM-AV03-01.
This model must be used with the ActivHUB that is located in the suitcase.

B. If your votes were issued prior to November of 07/08 school year, they are model PRM-AV02-01. This model has an ActivHUB in the suitcase, but you don't need to use it.

Other jargon that a teacher might encounter includes the frequency the votes utilize for communication. The PRM-AV03-01 system operates on a 2.4Ghz frequency and the PRM-AV02-01 system operates on the 915MHz or 866MHz frequency.

The next update will include more specifics, such as registration and re-naming of the votes.

If your Promethean ACTIVboard has been recently installed and utilizes the new EPSON (white in color) projector, then this article might be useful to you now or in the future.

Hooking things up:
You only need to plug in a couple of cables to your laptop and you'll be ready to go.
Locate the jumble of cables hanging from the wall box (by the way, a custom wallplate is on order and will greatly tidy-up those cables) look for the blue ended video cable & the white USB cable. You should have a minimum of six feet of each cable extending from the box.
